Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis

A Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) takes a small sample of hair from the back of your head and analyses essential minerals and toxic heavy metal levels that have been excreted in hair over the past few months. This is a great alternative to blood testing for small children, and a great accompaniment to blood testing as essential mineral levels are difficult to assess in blood.

Our essential minerals are essential for optimal body function and can be imbalanced by dietary deficiencies, chronic stress or exposure to high levels of heavy metals. Evaluating mineral levels helps us to understand more about appetite and digestion, blood sugar regulation, stress tolerance, hormone balance, thyroid function, adrenal function, inflammation and oxidative stress on the body.

Heavy metals are toxic to the body and many are neurotoxins that can contribute to mental health, developmental delays, speech delays, behavioural problems, fatigue, thyroid dysfunction, metabolic dysfunction, cardiovascular disease, hormone imbalances, skin disorders, immune dysfunction, learning disorders, arthritis, insomnia, Alzheimer’s disease and more. Heavy metals are ubiquitous in our day to day lives, present in pollution, soil, drinking water, industrial materials and even food. Children in particular are more susceptible to heavy metals and can require some gentle support to rebalance levels.
